When a child is diagnosed with an illness or suffers a traumatic injury, you want the best resources available -- close to home.
Thanks to outstanding community support, Charlotte is now home to the largest and most comprehensive children's hospital between Atlanta and Washington, DC.
Levine Children’s Hospital treats more children ranging in age from birth to young adulthood than any other hospital in the Carolinas, offering more than 40 specialized pediatric services, including organ transplants, cardiac care, and cancer treatments. The children of the Carolinas and their families no longer have to travel great distances to receive the specialized healthcare services they need.
Philanthropy helped build Levine Children’s Hospital, and donations are crucial to supporting vital programs and services, such as:
Medical equipment. Donations help buy isolettes for the neonatal intensive care nursery, heart/lung machines for children, adaptive wheelchairs for physical and outpatient therapy, and respiratory therapy equipment such as ventilators.
Cancer research. In 2010, a group of dedicated organizations joined together to form the Carolinas Kids Cancer Research Coalition. This group is funding pediatric cancer trials, giving patients the chance to stay close to home and receive groundbreaking treatments.
Child life specialists, who care for the emotional needs of children and their families. Donations also purchase extras such as art supplies and games for patients.
Parent resources, including the hospital’s Family Resource Center, support groups, and a nondenominational chapel.
By investing in research and education, Levine Children’s Hospital is ensuring that its people and technology are at the leading edge of medical advancements — all with the ultimate goal of being able to better care for the children of the Carolinas.
You can help improve medical care for children in our communities.
Levine Children’s Hospital is part of Carolinas HealthCare System and is located on the campus of Carolinas Medical Center, the system’s flagship facility.
